John – Owner/Director of CBS
Before working for CBS John built up his knowledge and experience working for various companies starting with heading the accounts department in a company employing over 100 staff when he was only 22.
John then went on to work for direct marketing company running all of their admin functions as well as getting involved in the preparation and production of direct marketing campaigns for a range of clients, including Barnardo’s, Shelter, British Airways and the British Banking Association.
John has also worked for an insurance company and an insurance/mortgage brokerage, eventually specialising in arranging commercial finance. During this period he also learned about general insurance, pensions, life insurance and investment. One of the clients he arranged commercial finance for (to help them buy a business) asked if he could help them with their bookkeeping and accountancy. It fitted in with the time he had available so he agreed – and that was the first client, who is still a client over 20 years later.
Accountancy and bookkeeping continued to be a sideline with just a few clients until about 2003 when John decided to devote most of his time to it.
In addition to Central Business Services John is a Trustee of Homefield College, a local charity which provides education, training and support for young adults with learning difficulties, particularly those with autism.
