John – Owner/Director
Before CBS was formed, John built up his knowledge and experience working for various companies starting with heading the accounts department in a company employing over 100 staff when he was only 22.
John then worked in a direct marketing company running all of their admin functions and producing direct marketing campaigns for clients including Barnardo’s, Shelter, British Airways and the British Banking Association. Following this John worked for an insurance company and an insurance/mortgage brokerage specialising in arranging commercial finance. One of the clients he arranged commercial finance for asked if he could help them with their bookkeeping and accountancy. That was back in 1993 – and that client is still a client today.
Accountancy and bookkeeping continued to be a sideline with just a few clients until about 2003 when John decided to devote his time to it.
Helen – Office Manager
Helen is FMAAT qualified and has experience looking after the needs of small to medium size businesses since 2005. She specialises in helping clients who are struggling to keep up to date with record keeping, business development and has helped many clients to improve their systems and as a result their profits. She also specialises in Limited company accounts.
In her free time looking after her family, foreign holidays and keeping fit all keep Helen busy.
Julia- Account Manager
Julia has been with us since 2011. She is MAAT qualified and one of our key Account managers. She specialises in Year-End accounts for Sole traders, Limited companies, Partnerships and Charities. She also handles VAT returns and Personal and Corporation Tax returns.
Julia is highly experienced in QuickBooks and other Online Accounting software packages. She is a central point of contact within the team and frequently undertakes office management duties.
She has worked previously for various manufacturing companies in sales and customer service and has previous experience in volunteering as a treasurer for a local charity.
Beccy – Accounts Assistant
Beccy’s role includes preparing VAT returns, Ltd and Charity accounts for some of our smaller clients and supporting the accounts team with bookkeeping and general administration. Proficient in QBOnline, QBDesktop and KashFlow accounting software, she also coordinates the online invoice scanning process.
Beccy has an engineering degree and has spent the majority of her working life within a range of Business Development, Strategic Management and Manufacturing roles both within the UK and overseas.
Lisa – Credit Control Manager
Lisa currently runs our credit control department and holds a HND in Accounting & Finance. Her role includes invoicing, recording of client payments along with the company secretarial tasks of Companies House confirmation statements. She is also responsible for keeping all internal policies and procedures up to date.
Outside of work she keeps herself busy undertaking house renovations, DIY, caring for her family and keeping fit.
Stacey – Client Manager
Stacey has been with us since 2015 and is highly experienced and capable. Stacey prepares company accounts/corporation tax returns, sole trader and partnership accounts and tax returns. She is experienced with Quickbooks Online and Quickbooks Desktop and also with KashFlow software. Stacey is one of the few people to achieve 100% in her Quickbooks Pro Adviser exam.
She has a background in retail management with experience of accounts, budget management and forecasting. She has also been involved with developing and delivering employee training.
When she is not at work she enjoys going to the gym and spending quality time with her daughter and family.
Laura – Client Manager
Laura is AAT level 3 qualified and has worked as an accounts assistant in industry for four years prior to joining CBS in 2015. She specialises in account management and bookkeeping for sole-traders and limited companies, as well as general administration. She also has an Honours degree in Forensic Science.
Outside of work she is currently the Treasurer for Syston Scout and Guide band, previously treasurer for the whole group of Syston Scouts accounts, but has now settled as a Cub Scout Leader to make more time to spend with her young family.
Sarah – Payroll Administrator
As a primary contact within the payroll team Sarah is in charge of processing payroll to ensure that the service runs smoothly and on time. She also looks after auto-enrolment, dealing with a number of different pension providers across our existing portfolio and so is well placed to advise on the complexities of this for our clients.
With a Humanities degree and a background in Marketing, Sarah brings a great range of skills and experience to the team.
In her spare time she keeps fit with regular running motivated currently by earning virtual medals, reading and looking after her young family.
Hannah – Accounts Assistant
Hannah is our newest recruit joining CBS in December 2018 and has made an excellent start to her career in accountancy. Hannah is level 2 AAT qualified and is working towards her level 3. Hannah joins us as an accounts assistant but with her skill set, she also helps the payroll team.
In Hannah’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family and taking her dogs out for long walks.
Demie – Accounts Assistant
Demie is level 3 AAT qualified and currently working towards her level 3. She is a valued member of the team she provides support within accounts by helping colleagues with bookkeeping and doing brief credit control. Demie has a background in business and has achieved a distinction merit in level 2 BTEC Business which helps her in all aspects of her role.
Outside of work Demie has a large family unit that she spend time with along side her golden retriever Bella. She also enjoys attending gigs and car shows.
Kelly – Marketing & Development Manager
Kelly is our marketing manager, she has an integral role in keeping the business communications up to date via social media, weekly blogs, maintaining and organising our website, creating newsletters for clients and also managing local advertising. Kelly also covers administration duties, CRM development and creating and delivering staff training.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading and planning fun days out with her son and fiancé.
Kelly R – Payroll, Bookkeeping & Accounts Assistant
Kelly is the newest member of the CBS team and is an accounts assistant. Kelly has a BA (Hons) in Accountancy & Business Management with 1st Class Honours. She has experience in Bookkeeping and management accounts, as well as customer service experience.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her 1 year old daughter and loves to watch musicals at the theatre with her fiancé.
